Share
Getting ready to pop the big question? Nothing beats seeing the pure joy on your lover's face as you slip that perfect fit ring down their finger!
That’s why we’ve made it easier than ever to measure your ring size; accurately and stress-free. Each online ring purchase comes with an included ring sizer to ensure that your dream ring is the perfect fit. This guide will help you learn how to use the ring sizer, how to shop for the perfect fit, and what to do if your previous ring needs resizing!
Why Ring Size Matters
It might sound obvious, but getting the size right is key to both comfort and security. A ring that’s too tight can be uncomfortable and hard to take off. A ring that’s too loose? It might just slide off during your morning coffee run.
The perfect fit just feels better. It sits correctly, sparkles right, and makes every hand gesture a little more fabulous.
The Best Way To Get An Accurate Ring Measurement Is Using A Ring Sizer From Your Jeweler
How Your Ring Should Fit
Ideally, the perfect fit is when you can slide the ring over your knuckle with only slight resistance. Since the knuckle can be a bit bulkier due to the connecting of the joints in our fingers and the excess cartilage surrounding the bone, a little resistance is normal. However, the ring should not get stuck on or behind the knuckle.
The perfect fit can also be affected by your lifestyle. If you wear rings regularly, keep in mind how your favorite one fits when sizing for an engagement ring. Everyone has a different preference when it comes to the “perfect fit”, a slightly looser or tighter fit may be what you are going for based on your lifestyle activity levels.
Using Our Free Ring Sizer
We're excited to now offer free ring sizers with every ring purchase. It’s our way of making sure that when you get your dream ring with us, even online, you’re set up for success! To use it, simply wrap the measuring strip around your finger and tighten until it is tight yet still comfortable. Once you’ve found the one you think is the best fit, try a half size up and a half size down to be sure that the size you picked is the best option. If you are torn between two sizes, we recommend that you go with the larger option for safe measures.
What Happens If I Need Ring Resizing?
If you’ve already purchased a ring that does not fit, resizing is easy!
Simply bring your ring into the store, and one of our expert jewelers will take care of it for you!
The resizing process may call for small amounts of the metal to be added or removed depending on if we are sizing up or down. Once you receive your newly fitting ring, the band may be slightly thicker or thinner due to the resizing. These slight changes are often so small you cannot tell them with the naked eye.
After resizing, each ring gets cleaned, polished, and made brand new for you at pick up!
Ring Sizing Tips to Keep in Mind
The fingers on your dominant hand are often slightly larger than the fingers on your nondominant hand. This is because of increased muscle/tendon use, increased blood flow, and a slightly greater bone density. This slight difference in finger size is not usually noticeable, and simply comes from working with and using your dominant hand more.
The season you propose matters as well. Cold fingers tend to shrink, where warm/hot fingers tend to swell. This is why we recommend testing a half size up and a half size down when you use our ring sizer. Doing so will ensure that during the winter and summer months, when the temperature fluctuates and possibly the size of your finger, your ring will still be a perfect fit.
The average ring size for women range from size 5 - size 7, with size 6 being the most common. The average ring size for men range from size 8 - size 10.5, with size 9 being the most common
💡 Pro tip: Try measuring your finger at the end of the day, when it's slightly larger. Fingers can swell throughout the day due to temperature and activity.
